Unusual Paraphilias

Course Abstract
Unusual Paraphilias is a 1-hour online continuing education (CE) course that will describe a variety of paraphilias and specific fetishes that you may encounter in your practice.
At first glance, the title “Unusual Paraphilias” may sound redundant. Yes, a paraphilia involves stimulating sexual arousal in someone by an object or fantasy that for most people is commonplace and not sexually related, either directly or symbolically. That is not true for paraphiles. What you will learn in this course is that there is a clear continuum of unusualness for paraphilias. There are some familiar ones and there are also very many paraphilias reported in the clinical literature which are indeed extremely unusual.
This course will include discussions of the eight standard Paraphilic Disorders included in the DSM-5: 1) Voyeuristic Disorder, 2) Exhibitionistic Disorder, 3) Frotteuristic Disorder, 4) Sexual Masochism Disorder, 5) Sexual Sadism Disorder, 6) Pedophilic Disorder, 7) Fetishistic Disorder, and 8) Transvestic Disorders, as well as a number of additional paraphilias and specific fetishes, which are generally quite rare.
The goal of this course is to provide the clinician with an understanding of some common (and some not so common) paraphilias that they may encounter with clients.

Dr. Franzini is such a knowledgeable expert, yet with his sense of humor and writing skills, he makes the process of education truly enjoyable.
Well outlined and informative. Never knew there were that many in wiki! (But wait! There's more!) Enjoyed this course!
I think the test could have been more than 6 questions. There may not be much value in this course for me professionally since I deal with drug addiction, but sometimes clients 'test' me by being provocative. This course was useful to that effect.
Great introduction to Paraphilias!
Nice, quick overview.
Excellent succinct course.
Great summary of relevant material.
Well written & very informative.
I rarely encounter a patient with an unusual paraphilia, but I feel more prepared to help that individual and/or understand it enough to refer to someone with more experience in this area.
The author was very good. Clear, concise, and conversational. Great value.
Author's use of humor was appreciated.
