Anxiety in Children
Adina Soclof, MS, CCC-SLP; Leo Christie, PhD, LMFT$49.00
Course Abstract
Anxiety in Children is a 4-hour online continuing education (CE) course that focuses on behavioral interventions for children with anxiety disorders.
According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, it is estimated that 40 million Americans suffer from anxiety disorders. Anxiety disorders affect one in eight children but are often not diagnosed. Untreated anxiety can lead to substance abuse, difficulties in school, and depression. Professionals who work with children, including speech-language pathologists, mental health professionals, and occupational therapists, frequently encounter anxiety disorders among their young clients.
This course is intended to help clinicians recognize and understand the anxiety disorders that frequently occur in children and learn a wide variety of communication and behavioral strategies for helping their clients manage their anxiety. Included are sections on types and causes of anxiety disorders, strategies for prevention, evidence-based treatments, techniques for helping children manage worry, relaxation techniques for use with children, and detailed discussions on school anxiety and social anxiety.

Customer Testimonials
Very practical information and very helpful!
I appreciate the number of strategies and techniques offered! Good job!
Well written and organized. I learned a lot about childhood anxiety.
I felt that the course was not only informative, but offered a lot of practical applications.
Thank you, I really enjoyed this course. A portion was reviewing skills and information I had at my fingertips several years ago when I worked exclusively with children. And I find that many of the skills are easily transferable to help the many adults I currently work with who struggle with anxiety issues as a result of COVID-19 and the year-plus lockdown we're still coming to terms with.

Great reminders in working with children and families. Thanks!
Anxiety is so prevalent right now among school aged children. This was a comprehensive course that covered both attributes, interventions and it's impact.
This was an excellent course. I will use this for my clients (and my own children who have some symptoms). Since anxiety is so pervasive, the course offers me good ways to speak to my friends about their children in a stressful world. I also liked the way the test language was structured - no double negatives, etc. Thanks. Good job.
Love the presentation and the illustrations to go along with it. Well done!
I especially appreciated the many examples and concrete strategies provided by this training. As a psychologist trained in CBT, although I knew a lot of the material, it was still very helpful to read and review the case examples and suggestions. Thank you!
Planning to use this information during parent & faculty training.
Very thorough and well organized - will use materials again.
Information in this course is also beneficial in providing insight and strategies that can be incorporated into care for all age groups, not just children.

Very resourceful information that can be implemented immediately.
Really enjoyed this course and found it very helpful. I learned a lot more practical strategies than I typically do in a continuing education course! Thank you!
A lot of great information was included that I can use everyday with the children I work with.
Outstanding coverage of the issues and treatments.
I loved the quotations with specific examples of what to say in certain situations. A lot of continuing ed courses give general recommendations, but I thought the quotations were especially helpful. Great, great course! I took lots of notes and plan to print these and put them into a binder to reference for my own children and my OT preschoolers.
Today's children seem to be experiencing anxiety much more than previous generations. This was a good course with useful information that can help these students to feel more comfortable and confident.
Excellent information presented. I truly enjoyed this course!
