Course Abstract

Anti-Social Youth & Conduct Disorders is a 3-hour online continuing education (CE) course that offers tailored tools that you need to manage and help anti-social and conduct disordered youth and children. This course zeros in on the youngster who may damage property, defy authority, steal, lie, torment peers, manipulate and hurt others, disrupt classrooms, make threats, and break laws and rules. In the extreme, some of these youth may even engage in fire setting, sexual assault, or school violence. Anti-social youth and conduct disorders are among the hardest-to-manage youngsters. The conventional methods that work with other youngsters usually fail with this population. For this reason, many youth professionals become profoundly discouraged and frustrated, feeling that there is nothing that they can do to successfully manage this type of out-of-control youngster. The methods offered in this course are intended to be the tailored tools that you need to manage and help anti-social and conduct disordered youth and children.

Excellent course with very good and applicable examples. I will buy her book, which she mentioned in this course...

M.L. (OT)

I liked how the course is written, as though the author were speaking directly to me. Very interesting material. As a school based OT assistant I have worked with some troubled and/or mentally disturbed elementary students and several past students most definitely came to mind.  Now, I have a much better understanding of their behaviors and how to better work with them.  Thank you.

D.C. (Psychologist)

This is a great course:  engaging, effective, well?designed, and informative. I think everyone working in any setting would benefit from this. I work primarily in a college setting and know that it is helpful for me ? even if the adult label may be used in this population. Truly an exceptional course!

Excellent course.  I look forward to sharing this information with administration and guidance staff at the schools I serve.

S.S. (Counselor)

This is one of the best authors/books that I have read on a very difficult type of client.

S.C. (Psychologist)

The course was excellent. I appreciate all professionals who choose to work with this difficult population. As an OT, I am happy to know strategies that work and why they work. I have encountered several conduct disorders throughout my practice and I now know some valuable interventions to use. Thank you!

A.R. (OT)

Thanks I learned a lot. This course has been very helpful and was clearly laid out.

L.L. (PY)

I liked the author's direct and honest approach.

S.O (PY)

I enjoyed the author's candidness. It was helpful to have it written in a very honest (if not entirely PC) way that was easily understandable and applicable professionally and in every day life.

D.R. (PY)

Given what we know is the likely end point for most CD youngsters, the course is unavoidably a bit optimistic.  These problems are multi-generational and rarely if ever overcome by "interventions".

B.R. (MHC)

Clearly presented and user friendly!

P.A. (MHC)

Thank you so much for your fabulous courses!

D.N-K. (PY)

This was an excellent course and helped to clarify information about CD . Thanks.

Informative and interesting. Thank you!

D.B. (OT)

Very good use of examples.

M.S. (MFT)

This was the most honest, straight-forward, realistic, and helpful training I have taken through PDR.  The content really hit home with an LSSP who has worked with many CD students.  CD students are exhausting to work with.  The feedback & validation that this training supplied was wonderful.  Thank you.

M.C. (PY)

This was a very interesting course and has given me insight into how the CD child works to manipulate and what to do/not do to help make situations more workable.

L.P. (MHC)

The course was intense, but presented in such a practical manner made it so informative and captivating. Great job!

S.U. (MHC)

This was an excellent CEU!  It is one of the best I have taken!  Thank you!

P.J. (SW)

This was a wonderful course. Very thorough, interesting and I finished feeling like I had some great tools!

D.F. (SW)

I worked with a Juvenile Intervention Program and this course would have been such an asset, as there were teens with C.D., O.D.D., Thought Disorders and Extreme Agitated Depression that I counselled.  Thankfully, my intuition, training and working with youth throughout my life assisted me in using some of the interventions, consequences, etc. that caused very positive outcomes. Hopefully, this can get into the hands of school counselors, juvenile detention staff youth workers and therapists that work with youth. I was grateful the author had first hand experience and it showed in examples.

M.M. (PY)

Loved this course, the information is very valuable to my practice.

M.F. (MHC)

This is the best CE training so far!!! It contains so much good information that I can pass along.

H.T. (OT)

A great course for someone specializing in child psychology or the treatment of children and adolescents.

K.W. (SW)

This course provide interventions I’d never heard of before. It was refreshing to hear new ideas for working with youth with Conduct Disorder.

K.O. (SW)

Very interesting course! Well written; clearly explained CE. I would recommend it!

J.K, (PY)

informative detailed information.

L.A. (PY)

I wish I had taken it years ago!

A.N. (SS)

Compelling narrative about a topic that often can be murky. The description of the behaviors  and real-world solutions is right on target. I will be checking out the followup book.

D.F. (MFT)

The length and content of training were excellent; skills will be easy to implement during clinical practice with this population.

C.W. (SW)

Great course!  Lots of great information and practical suggestions for working with individuals with CD.

R.T. (PY)

This was one of the best courses I have ever participated in!  Very informative and easy to read.

J.M. (SS)

Excellent course! I have been in the social work field and also a counselor in the schools for 31 years. I wish I would have had this course earlier in my career. Well presented with some added humor, which we all need in this profession. I have been pleased with all my online learning through PDR.

M.D. (SW)

Outstanding course with some important insights and practical suggestions.

C.M. (OT)

Loved it - real and practical. Every new professional should read it. Told what goes on with conduct disordered kids and how not to be manipulated and how harmful touchy feely therapy can be.

S.S. (OT)

This course may have been the best CE course I have ever taken. The presenter talked in everyday language and used examples and analogies that were understandable and commonly used. He was decisive in his information and advice and didn't pull any punches. I wish I had know this information 15 years ago! Thank you so much for this course!

K.G. (PY)

THanks for the examples and  explanations!!

M.K. (MHC)

I really enjoyed the way this course was presented as if the author was speaking to me. I also feel like I previously generalized a lot of these diagnosis (since I do not work with this specific population) and now have a much clearer idea of the differences and how to evaluate and treat if it ever comes up. Mental health is always fascinating to me too.

J.L. (PY)

This course was one of the best. I am impressed with how clear, logical and useful this course was.

R.W. (SS)

This course was clear, well-written, and very helpful. I have been better able to help my client with CD because of it, while also protecting myself in the process. Would love more trainings on this topic.

This course has provided the most realistic information and approach to working with this population.

Fabulously written content especially considering the nature of the topic. I learned a great deal from this course. It was refreshing to have the author include "school based teams" and other school psychologist realities. I very much appreciate that. I agree with the authors, this training is so very important for principals, teachers, support staff, and others. Children are in their school environment nearly half of their waking hours.  So many schools have "crisis kids". Thank you for a stimulating course.
