Georgia Board of Psychology
CE Required: 40 hours every 2 years
Online CE Allowed: 10 hours (home study & online courses considered Area V)

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, notwithstanding any other rule or provision of law, and pursuant to OCGA § 43-39-15, the requirements of in person attendance or participation for obtainment of continuing education hours for the 2022 renewal cycle are hereby waived as follows:
Continuing education hours obtained during the year 2021 may be obtained online from approved sponsors through webinars, SKYPE, ZOOM or other electronic means and will be counted for the 2022 renewal cycle. (Note: If all 40 CE Hours required for renewal are obtained in the year 2021, then the CE Hour renewal requirement has been met for this 2022 renewal cycle).
CE hours obtained after 2021 in the second year of the renewal cycle, the year 2022, will be subject to all requirements of Board rule 510-8 Continuing Education Requirements.
For the purposes of a Continuing Education Hours audit by the Board at renewal, the CE Hours Report form must be submitted along with your certificates of obtainment of the hours to the Board for the audit.
Continuing Education Hours for the reactivation or reinstatement of a lapsed or revoked license also may be obtained online as stated above for applications received on or before December 31, 2021.

License Expiration: 9/30, even years
National Accreditation Accepted: ASWB, NBCC, APA
Notes: 5 hrs professional ethics req'd each renewal (cannot be done online)

COVID-19 UPDATE: 135-11-0.4-.01 Emergency Rule: TeleMental Health- Effective Date: April 17, 2020
Due to the COVID-19 State of Emergency, notwithstanding any other rule or provision of law, the requirement in Rule 135-11-.01(b)(1)(i) and (2)(i) that training, in the form of continuing education hours, must be obtained prior to the use of telemental health services or telemental health supervision is hereby modified as follows:
(a) Individuals who have not obtained such training shall obtain at least one (1) hour of telemental health overview training prior to the delivery of telemental health services or telemental health supervision.
(b) The balance of the required continuing education hours shall be obtained within six (6) weeks of the date when the individual first engaged in telemental health services or telemental health supervision.
This rule shall be effective for the duration of the State of Emergency and for a period of not more than 120 days thereafter.

Notes: 2 hrs in ethics of OT practice req'd each renewal. 14 hrs must relate to "hands on" patient care. Effective April 2018, all courses must be reported to CE Broker (we report to CE Broker for you!).

Georgia Professional Standards Commission
Georgia’s renewable certificates are the Standard Professional, Performance-Based Professional, Advanced Professional, Lead Professional and Life certificates. Renewable licenses are Adjunct, Educational Interpreter, Non-Instructional Aide, Paraprofessional and Support Personnel. These certificates and licenses are valid for a five (5)-year period (except for the Life certificate), during which time the requirements outlined below must be met unless the most recent certificate or license issued is exempt from professional learning as outlined in section (8)(a) below.
(2) Educators who work in schools, agencies, or other education organizations in Georgia.
(a) Individuals employed by a Georgia LUA: certificate and license holders who are employed by a Georgia LUA in a position requiring certification at the time of renewal application must satisfy professional learning requirements as outlined below, with the exceptions noted in section 3 below. Employing LUAs shall document fulfillment of these requirements and verify their completion as part of the renewal application package:
1. A criminal record check, unless exempted in section (4) below.
2. Engaging in professional learning on a continuing basis by fully participating in the LUA’s professional learning community as documented by the individual’s supervisor and described in GaPSC Guidelines accompanying this rule.
3. The following individuals employed by a Georgia LUA in a position requiring certification may renew their certificates without meeting the professional learning requirements outlined in this section:
(i) Individuals who also hold valid National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) certification at the time of renewal in a field comparable to one held on their Georgia educator certificate.
(ii) Individuals certified in the service fields of Speech and Language Pathology, Audiology, School Psychology, School Counseling and School Social Work who meet optional requirements associated with GaPSC-accepted state or national credentials as outlined in the appropriate GaPSC field rules as long as this is approved by the supervisor as appropriate for professional learning
