About the Author
Erika Curran, LCSW, has been a Social Worker since 1969 and has been learning about and committed to the practice of family therapy since first hearing Salvador Minuchin and Jay Haley give talks at Norristown State Hospital in Pennsylvania in 1971. Since 1987 she has been the Family Treatment Specialist for the National Center for PTSD’s Residential Rehabilitation Program at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, where she has worked with over 1300 families whose lives has been impacted by the trauma experience and PTSD of a family member. She has worked with families of veterans who served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, Iraq, and other recent areas of conflict. Her recent experience includes work with families of active duty personnel who are facing the additional challenge of recent reunification following deployment in a war zone.
