   | What is home study and how does it work? |
  |
Untitled Document
Home study is a way to earn continuing education credits in your own home or office at YOUR convenience. We offer three different types of home study courses: "Mail Order," Online,” and “Test Only."
Mail Order courses give you instant access to your online test, but your book is mailed to you. Books are mailed following business day with the shipping method you choose during check-out. Our standard shipping, USPS Media Mail, ranges from 5 to 15 business days depending on where you live and the time of year. For expedited shipping, we offer UPS Ground (average 3-5 days) and UPS 2nd Business Day (guaranteed 2 business days from ship date). Please note that all orders ship on the next business day after you order from Eastern Standard Time Zone. You can print out your CE test for use while reading through the course materials (all tests are open book) and then submit your test answers online for instant scoring. Once you attain a score of 80% or better, you will be asked to complete the course evaluation form. Then you can immediately print your own certificate from your "My Certificates" page.
Online Courses are designed to be a faster, more efficient way for you to earn continuing education credit. Course materials are instantly available for you to view, read, or print on your own computer as soon as you purchase them (nothing is mailed). Please note that links to online courses are removed once your course is complete, so if you want to save course materials please do so before submitting your test. When you are ready, you can take the test online anytime for instant scoring. Once you attain a score of 80% or better, you will be asked to complete the course evaluation form. Then you can immediately print your own certificate from your "My Certificates" page.
Test Only courses allow you to earn credit for a course if you already have access to the course materials. You’ll receive instant access to your online test from your “My Courses” page (nothing is mailed). When you are ready, you can take the test online anytime. It is scored instantly, and once you attain a score of 80% or better, you will be asked to complete the course evaluation form. Then you can immediately print your own certificate from your "My Certificates" page.

 | How do I know if courses are accredited for me? |
  |
Untitled Document
Professional Development Resources is approved by many state and national accrediting bodies to offer continuing education for healthcare professionals. Please view our CE Accreditations and Requirements by State to ensure you will receive credit prior to purchasing any courses. We offer summary data as a quick guide, but we always recommend that you contact your licensing board as the only definitive source of such information.
When you choose your profession button from the list on the left side of our homepage, you are narrowing your search to only courses that are accredited for your profession. You can then click the “View Details/Purchase” link to see the Accreditation Statement for each course to ensure your accrediting agency is listed.

 | What do I need to know about the CE tests? |
  |
Untitled Document
All tests are open book, multiple choice with a range of 10-50 questions, depending on the length of the course. You can print out your test for use while reading the course materials and then submit online for instant scoring.
1. Login to your account at www.pdresources.org
2. Click on the “My Courses” icon; a list of your current courses will be displayed
3. Click on the link in the “Attend Course” column and select the link for “View/Print/Take Test”
Online Test: Each page of the online test has 10 questions. Each question has only one correct answer. You must answer all questions. When you finish each page, click “Submit” at the bottom. At that time the questions you have completed will be saved, page by page, so that if you are interrupted you can come back later and pick up where you left off. Your test is not scored until you complete it entirely, so you may go back and change your answers until the final “Submit.”
Paper Test: If you do not have access to a computer, or prefer to take your tests by mail, you can request a “paper test” while ordering through our helpdesk (800-979-9899). Paper tests can be returned to us for processing for a per test fee of $10, which includes scoring of your test and a returned certificate via first class mail. Tests are typically processed within 2-3 weeks, although the time frame is not guaranteed. Stapled to your paper test will be a payment form for you to enter your billing information. You can submit your test to us via mail or fax, as explained on the payment form.
Scoring: After you pass a test (80% or better) it will be displayed, showing your score and all questions with your answers along with the correct answers. You will then be prompted to complete a program evaluation before you can view or print your certificate.
If you do not pass the test, your score and all questions with your answers will be displayed, but the correct answers will not show. You can see which items you missed and try again, if you wish. You may try again immediately, or you may come back and try again later. You must re-take the test in its entirety. You are allowed three tries. If you do not pass within three tries, you may contact our Help Desk to request a re-take.
Expiration Date: You have access to any course and its test for 3 years from the time you register or until the course expires. It is very important to note course expiration dates. If you notice on your “My Courses” page that one of your courses has expired, use the link on that page to submit a request for an extension. Please note that not all courses are eligible for extensions. Any course that is registered for ASHA CEUs has a specific expiration date, beyond which you will not be able to receive credit.
Reporting Errors: We work hard at accuracy and appreciate knowing about anything we get wrong. Please include any comments regarding your course in the comments section of your course evaluation. We read these daily and strive to make any necessary corrections immediately. You can also send us an e-mail at ceinfo@pdresources.org.

 | Will my credit be reported to my professional association? |
  |
Untitled Document
The only agencies to which we report course completions are ASHA and CE Broker (listed below). All other licensees are required to keep records of their continuing education activity in the event of an audit. Most boards recommend keeping this documentation for 4 to 5 years, but please check with your own licensing board for specific requirements.
ASHA (for Speech Pathologists): We report all course completions to ASHA quarterly as long as (a) you select “yes” for ASHA reporting and (b) you provide your ASHA number in your profile. ASHA requires us to file reports quarterly, so your credits may not be shown in your ASHA transcript immediately. Please e-mail us at ceinfo@pdresources.org if you have further questions.
CE Broker (for Florida Licensees): We report all course completions to CE Broker within 30 days as long as (a) we know that you are licensed in Florida and (b) you provide your Florida license number in your student profile. For Speech Pathologists and Audiologists, ASHA is responsible for reporting your credit to CE Broker. If you are not an ASHA member, you will need to self-submit your credit to CE Broker. You may email us at ceinfo@pdresources.org if you have further questions, or visit CE Broker on the web @ www.cebroker.com.

 | What is the difference between CE Hours and CEUs? |
  |
Untitled Document
Certain accrediting boards, such as ASHA and AOTA, count credit in tenths of an hour and call them CEUs. For example, a 0.6 CEU course equals 6 CE (or contact) hours. This gets more confusing because many state licensing boards use the terminology of “CEUs,” but actually mean hours. Others use “CCC” or “PDU”. We recommend reading the rules and regulations of your licensing board to determine what terminology they use and how it translates into hour requirements.
